Why Your Low Back Pain Keeps Coming Back—and What to Do About It

Your guide to core strength and corrective exercise for back pain relief in Green Bay

If your back still hurts—even after stretching, sitting on a posture cushion, or doing a few exercises—you’re not alone.
At Function Thru Fitness in Green Bay, WI, most of our clients with low back pain didn’t suffer a big injury.

They just lived in a body that slowly stopped moving well.

The Two Most Common Causes of Low Back Pain

We see two dominant patterns behind lingering low back discomfort:

Anterior Pelvic Tilt
This occurs when the front of the pelvis tilts forward, compressing the lower back and placing constant strain on the spine. It’s common in people who sit all day—at a desk, in a car, or with poor posture.

Obliquity
This happens when one hip sits higher than the other, usually due to weight shifting, muscle imbalance, or even long-term compensation from injuries. It’s incredibly common—but rarely addressed.

What Happens When These Go Untreated?

  • Tight hip flexors and quads

  • Weak, overstretched glutes and hamstrings

  • Compressed lumbar spine

  • Unbalanced loading across the hips and legs

  • Chronic discomfort during movement, sleep, and standing

How We Address It—Functionally and Collaboratively

In our latest video, Glen and Coach John demonstrate how we assess and correct both patterns through:

  • Targeted stretching (quads, psoas, calves)

  • Strengthening drills (glute bridges, hamstring curls, low plank)

  • Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) to release deep muscular compression

  • Progressive balance work to correct long-standing imbalances

We don’t just guess.
We assess, test, and create personalized plans to restore alignment, mobility, and strength—on both sides of the body.

Stop Managing Pain. Start Moving Better.

Pain from anterior tilt or obliquity can feel like it’s “just how you are.”
But with the right plan—it’s highly fixable.
