A Word From Our Clients
“With severe limitations from knee and muscle issues, a friend recommended the trainers at Function Thru Fitness. The result is terrific strength and balance….and unbelievably back to 10k’s.
Great results, great friends. A life changer!”

“Here I am reflecting on the 1 and 1/2 + years of personal training and intermittent neuromuscular treatment. After many years of overcompensation for a serious injury, consequent physical limitations, chronic pain and weight gain, no one was able to get me to rebalance and operate as a unit. I have been able to lose 25% body weight in the past 9 months and be able to function mostly pain free daily. I can honestly say that I am more fit, more active, have tons more stamina (and did I mention – happier?) than I have been in the past 18 years following this injury. I only wish I had listened to my friend, Michelle, long before this. Bottom line, the name says it all - FUNCTION THRU FITNESS. As my trainer tells me, he is “lengthening my life”, but in actuality he has done so much more for my quality of life. Thanks!!!!!”

“I was injured in an accident 2 years ago that left me a partial paraplegic. I was paralyzed from the waist down and had partial use of my left leg. I left the hospital in a wheel chair and with out-patient physical therapy I was able to progress to a walker and occasionally two canes.
I wanted to regain the quality of life I had before the accident and was not willing to give up. I expressed this to the physical therapist at the hospital and asked what else I could do. They recommended I see a trainer from Function Thru Fitness. They said he is trained in this area and was one of the only people they would recommend.
When I started my corrective exercise sessions I was still using the walker. I told my trainer when I met with him that I was not interested in just getting my legs working (which is what the physical therapist were focused on) I also wanted all of the muscles stronger. I had spent several weeks in the hospital and I was weak everywhere.
He knew just what to do. He was able to find ways around my limitations to work all of the muscles and build my strength. He also mixes up the work out so it is not routine but interesting.
Today I can walk without the use of a cane, I can work out in my yard all day, I cut down trees with a chain saw, I split and stack fire wood, I fish, play with my grandson, and I drive and travel in my motorhome seeing the country. I have regained the quality of life I was seeking. I continue to get better and stronger each day. Recently I was swinging a golf club in my yard. I will continue to go to Function Thru Fitness because the results are what count and I am not willing to settle for living in a chair watching life go by. I want to be part of it, not just a spectator.”

“I have trained with these trainers for a long time. My trainer is an expert at dealing with my "issue du jour". Hip pain, neck and shoulder pain, knee pain...I tell him what is bothering me that day and he adjusts my workout to alleviate the pain. I can honestly say I always feel better after my workout than before I arrived. Corrective exercise works!”

“Great Day at Function Thru Fitness!
Goal: to remain active as I grow older.
Prescription: Function Thru Fitness!
They say every day is a great day at Function Thru Fitness and I have to agree! I have been training with this group for a long time and I am amazed at the difference they have made in my life. I started because of back and knee pain and have enjoyed benefits beyond the resolution of these initial problems. Growing older and staying active results in wear and tear on the body, of course, but with their help I can continue to try new challenges! Stand up paddle boarding last summer was great ... All that balance board work paid off! Thanks Function Thru Fitness!”

“Function thru Fitness has exceptional trainers. Their focus is individualized towards each client's goals and a practice that is all about the correct form. I came in with some lower back and hip issues...I received a customized program that focused on my fitness goals and muscular issues. It has worked and I feel much better! They are more than trainers- Function thru fitness is about training for life in a Functional way.”

“I believe performing corrective exercise with a trainer at Function Thru Fitness is the reason I have made a complete recovery from double knee replacement surgery. Before the surgery, he worked on strength as much as my degrading knees would allow. He also made sure that I knew how to correctly execute the exercises I would encounter after surgery during physical therapy. I am still working with him now, but graduating from rehab to fitness. In every instance, he has offered nothing but gentle, warm support, while occasionally pushing when I need it. Thank you!”

“Before I started seeing a trainer at Function Thru Fitness I had a triple arthrodesis surgery on my foot/ankle and still walked with a cane. After working with him twice per week for 3 months, I got rid of the cane and the foot/ankle pain. I also performed corrective exercise for a slight tear that I had in my rotator cuff. After working with my trainer twice per week for several months, I do not have any pain in my shoulder and arm. I also have had fibromyalgia for years. It becomes very painful at times. If I didn't go to Function Thru Fitness twice per week, I would probably be sitting in a rocking chair in a nursing home.
Thank you Function Thru Fitness for keeping this 80 year old body and mind active!”

“I started attending Function Thru Fitness in 2012 in regards to my right achilles. I was born with a club foot and have lived with its problems ever since. I was a fully active child, teenager, and young adult, playing 3 sports in high school and continuing to play in basketball leagues up to today. It wasn't until I tore my achilles in college that I had been forced to look at changing my every day routine. I saw 3 different foot specialists about my achilles and 2 of the 3 told me I shouldn't run on concrete and that I shouldn't play what means so much to me in life again~ sports. This is what led me to FTF. They gave me workouts that strengthened my achilles and allowed me to keep living the life I had been. I recently had a proactive achilles surgery in which I am now seeing FTF for recovery. Since the surgery and attending FTF, I feel stronger than I have in 8 years. They know how to relate to clients and build genuine relationships with them. The power of having another person care to see you achieve your goal makes you work that much harder. I can say that I truly enjoy working again because of FTF.”

“I’m really impressed with everyone at FTF. I mostly work with Chad and he has been outstanding – but everyone there is so nice. And – very happy to say I am feeling better than I have in years. Since August down over 12lbs and really feeling healthy with the muscle I’ve put on. Thanks!”

“Dear Glen,
Ken & I both can’t thank you enough for your perceptive assessment of our individual physical challenges, and for placing us both in the care of John Blazer. This young man exhibits a work ethic that is nearly absent in our current workforce, especially in our present culture. We are continually impressed with John’s already exceptional skills & his dedication to excellence!!! But he never seems satisfied with the “status quo” of care…he is always on the hunt for the next new Rx for any of his clients who are struggling with a particular challenge & he is always looking to improve himself - thus bringing a high standard to your profession and setting him apart as one of the best in the business. We are quite certain that John is considered a treasured blessing by FTF… Ken & I certainly appreciate him for all he does to improve the quality of our lives & we would give John our highest recommendation to anyone who is searching for a dedicated & knowledgeable Personal Trainer.
May both you & John be blessed in like manner as you both bless others, ourselves included.”
- Irene P.
“Thank you for creating space in my hips and back and neck!
What a great feeling and the best part is, I can breathe again.
John, thanks for all the extra research you put in to help make our
bodies feel great again.”

"After being in pain for years I had the good fortune to learn
of Function thru Fitness from a friend. After the first visit I
knew, I had gone to the right place. My therapist’s
knowledge of neuromuscular therapy and his concern for the
causes of discomfort are amazing. He listens carefully and
makes sure I understand what the problems are and how he
intends to address them. I have also been very fortunate to
work weekly with a personal trainer and have found him to
be equally dedicated and knowledgeable in guiding me
through corrective exercise. Together, they have succeeded
in alleviating my pain and transformed my life, for which I am
very grateful."

“I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and arthritis in my lower lumbar about 6 years ago and the neurologist I was seeing suggested to fuse my L4/L5 lumbar to eliminate the pain I was suffering. I wasn’t willing to commit to surgery without trying alternate treatment first, since many people I know who has had similar back surgeries had results that were 50/50 at best. I have tried acupuncture, dry needling, massage therapy, yoga and core strengthening as well as the occasional cortisone injections that resulted with temporary relief. I was very close to scheduling surgery until a friend (who has been seeing a neuromuscular therapist and the team at Function thru Fitness with positive results) suggested I give him a call to see if he could help me with my situation. Since that initial assessment with the neuromuscular therapist over two years ago, I couldn’t be more pleased with the results that I have seen. I have avoided surgery and have not had one injection in my lower back since working with him and his team. I have since convinced my wife, who was skeptical at first, and is now a believer in Neuromuscular Therapy and Corrective Exercise for her pain issues. I’m glad I made that initial call as it has saved my golf game and more importantly my back!!”

“Three things occurred after each of my 2 Energy Sound Therapy sessions. The first thing is that I instantly felt lighter emotionally and physically. Secondly, later those 2 evenings after my session, my mind was clear and I was not worrying about everything going on in my life. It was peaceful. I could focus and be in the moment. And thirdly, the panic, fear and anxiety I held on to when thinking about a reoccurring situation suddenly changed to calmness when thinking about it. I no longer feel dread and anxiety when I know I will be in that situation again. Energy Sound Therapy helped me immensely!”
-KG
“I have used Sound Therapy 3 times now within the last couple of months. It has helped me a great deal with calming down my occasional anxiety and overactive mind. With each session I think of a situation, future decision, event, or person that is contributing to my anxiety. Through various muscle testing and the appropriate sound frequencies Billy jo is able to help me dissociate the feeling of anxiety from the situation, future decision, event, or person that I thought about at the beginning of the session. It has helped immensely in calming my mind and has allowed me to make decisions without having the emotional side tied to it. Thank you Billy Jo!”

“I started going to Function Thru Fitness about 5 years ago. I was referred to a Neuromuscular Therapist there by a friend after I had back surgery for a herniated disc. The surgery resolved the problem of pressure on my sciatic nerve, but after months of inactivity I was stiff and in pain and struggling to return to the activities I enjoyed.
I started with NMT and then with a trainer 2 days a week. I’m still there! I’ve learned so much about keeping my body strong and balanced. I’m 65 years old and issues come up. My NMT and my trainer notice movement changes and we can resolve problems as they occur. I don’t have to wonder “What’s this pain from and how can I get rid of it?” They know!!!
Initially I was motivated by avoiding future back injuries. Working out to become stronger and being vigilant about movement issues has so many other benefits. My golf handicap is the lowest it’s ever been and I hit the ball farther. I just feel better and more energetic.”
