What to Expect in Your First Kinetix Session
Trying something new — especially a type of bodywork most people haven’t heard of — can be intimidating. At Function Thru Fitness in Green Bay, WI, we believe clarity helps people feel safe. So, we want you to know exactly what to expect when you come in for your very first Kinetix session.
Whether you're in chronic pain, stuck in a maintenance routine, or just curious about your body’s patterns, this therapy begins with one simple goal: helping you feel better, faster — and understand why.
It All Starts with a Conversation
“In an initial session, we will talk about the goals and desired outcomes — usually asking: ‘What do you want the freedom to do?’”
— Stacey Kilps, Kinetix provider at Function Thru Fitness
This question matters. It's not about fixing something. It’s about helping you move through life more freely — whether that means walking without pain, sleeping more comfortably, or picking up your grandkids again.
We use your answer to guide the entire session.
What Does the Physical Work Look Like?
After that initial conversation, we begin mapping either the upper or lower body:
Upper body mapping: arms, shoulders, and surrounding fascial chains
Lower body mapping: hips, thighs, legs, and pelvic structures
This isn’t a massage.
This is active soft tissue therapy designed to uncover why your body is compensating — and what’s underneath the discomfort or dysfunction.
Pressure and Movement: You’re in Control
As we map your body, you’ll be asked to move through very small, simple joint ranges — guided by verbal cues — while Stacey applies targeted pressure, often with her foot or forearm. This combination of manual therapy plus directed movement helps release adhesions (where tissue layers are stuck together), freeing the fascia that influences everything from posture to pain.
“After each area of release, we check in to the body’s reaction by standing and scanning or moving in a way that lets us know how much that area has affected symptoms in gravity and movement.”
— Stacey Kilps
You’ll notice changes immediately — sometimes dramatic ones. But even subtle shifts help us understand what areas are truly influencing your symptoms.
What’s the Difference Between This and Massage?
Most massage treatments are passive. You lie on a table while someone works through general muscle tension.
Kinetix is different. It’s active, targeted, and collaborative.
✔ You move
✔ We adjust pressure in real time
✔ We assess your body’s reaction as we go
It’s not about “feeling good in the moment.” It’s about building long-term relief — and understanding your own body better in the process.
What Happens at the End of the Session?
Once we’ve completed the mapping of either the upper or lower body, we’ll sit down together and discuss your results.
“We talk about where in the system was most adhered (stuck together) and make a plan for continued sessions.”
— Stacey Kilps
This might mean continuing to work on the same region or shifting to the other half of the body next time. Each follow-up session is customized based on what your body showed us and what outcomes you're seeking.
Common Client Reactions
Most first-time clients are surprised by at least one of the following:
How much better they feel after just one session
How different their body feels standing up
How much the work reveals — emotionally and physically
How empowering it is to be part of the process
Some people experience emotional release. Others finally understand a pattern that’s been confusing them for years. All leave with greater awareness of their body and how it compensates.

Expect 60 minutes for the initial appointment.
Will I be sore after?
You might feel different — sometimes a little tender or wobbly — but most people report feeling more aligned, looser, and aware.
How soon should I return?
We typically recommend weekly sessions for the first few, then space them out based on your goals and changes.
